BAPTIST NEW CHURCH MISSION

Seminole Update

July/August,  2005

 Dear Praying Friends,

Please accept my apology for the lateness of this prayer letter.  I try to send one monthly and I had one ready to send, but before we got it printed and mailed things changed so quickly much of it was irrelevant.

July flew past as we had some meetings scheduled.   We also began construction on the offices which we will use to print “Ah-pone-kee Shay-yah” (The Word Carrier).  This will be a monthly newsletter which we will distribute to homes on the Brighton Reservation.  We are so appreciative of the folks who came down from Pine Mountain, Georgia to work on the offices.  Pastor Joel Chapman installed the electric system and preached nightly August 1st-4th.  His  family and three other young people did much cleaning around the church and fellowship hall. They also did special music and puppet shows during the evening services.  Several decisions were made as they ministered here.

In August and September we anticipate putting a new roof on the church.  Some materials are already purchased for that.  We will also be finishing the offices.

Please pray for a 29 year old Seminole man named Gilbert.  He is interested in ministering for the Lord.  He was saved at the age of sixteen and attended a Baptist church.  Three years ago he enrolled in a charismatic college in Ohio but quickly became disillusioned there and dropped out.  I have been praying for several years for the Lord to send a young man that I can train for the ministry.  Gilbert is the brightest and most open Seminole man I have met.  He reminds me of Apollos in Acts 18 & 19 who needed to be trained and then became a great teacher and servant in the early church.

The possibility exists of beginning a Bible study group in Ft. Pierce on the Seminole Reservation there.  Dan (the Seminole elder at Seminole Bible Baptist Church) and I have discussed it and he believes we should continue to pray about it and talk to the church members.  These are the first steps we are taking to plant an indigenous church there in Ft. Pierce.  Here a some prayer requests: 1. Pray that God will continue to bring in our support. 2. Pray for Gilbert.  3.  Pray that God will open doors for planting a Seminole Baptist church in Ft. Pierce.

Thanks to all who pray and give so faithfully to help us here at Brighton.

For Christ and the Seminoles,

Bill Blomberg and Family
